Akita International University - UC Berkeley
Project-Based Learning Course 2016
Credit Transfer
The Center for Japanese Studies of the University of California, Berkeley (UCB) administers the portion of the course taught in Berkeley, while the Educational Renovation Project Team Academic Affairs Office of the AIU does the portion taught in Akita. A total of ten selected students (5 from UCB and 5 from AIU) participate in this course from June 20 to July 15, 2016 given first in Berkeley and then Akita. AIU offers this course with 5 credit units. A Berkeley student participating in this course needs first to register the course with AIU.
Upon completion of the course, the student will transfer the credits to UCB.
Each participating student will transfer the credit through an Independent Study Abroad Program with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions (Note - not the Education Abroad Program). This would be done on a case-by-case basis as there would be no blanket institutional agreement for this credit transfer (see Independent Study Abroad Programs).
For the 2016 PBL course, once the student’s enrollment is confirmed with AIU, the instructor (Yamanaka) will inform the Office of Undergraduate Admissions (OUA) about the credit transfer, and upon completion of the course in July, AIU sends the grade of each student to the OUA, which will process the credit transfer from AIU to UCB.
